Here
are solutions
for technical
problems that
might come
up using Eureka’s Photo Magic:
Setup
and Installation
Upon
start Eureka’s
Photo Magic
brings up
the following
message: "Your
system clock
appears to
have been
changed..."
This
is caused
by the software
protection
mechanisms
of Eureka’s
Photo Magic.
Please contact Technical
Support
to get a so
called "clock
fix key"!
Importing
Photos
Eureka’s Photo Magic
does not recognize
my camera
For
importing
digital photographs
from a camera,
Eureka’s Photo Magic
requires a
digital camera
connected
to your PC
via a serial,
USB, or FireWire
interface
and a software
driver for
your camera.
This driver
must show
the camera's
memory in
the Windows
Explorer's
drive list!
Most newer
digital cameras
have that
anyway. The
other options
are to use
a serial or
USB memory-card
reader or
the camera’s
TWAIN driver,
if available.
Most of these
card reader
devices show
the data from
the memory
card in Windows
Explorer.
(Please consult
your camera's/reader's
manual for
details.)
CD
Writing
First
please update
to the latest
version
if you don’t
already have
and retry
CD writing.
CD
writing does
not work.
My CD writer
is not recognized
On
some machines
Eureka’s Photo Magic
has trouble
recognizing
the CD writer.
Please get
an alternate
WNASPI32.DLL
ASPI layer
driver and
copy the file
into the directory
where you
have installed
Eureka’s Photo Magic
(usually c:\program
files\Eureka’s Photo Magic).
There are
several companies
publishing
WNASPI32.DLL
files, here
are two that
we recommend:
Ahead
Software AG
(makers of
NERO CD software
products): ftp://ftp6.nero.com/wnaspi32.dll
Adaptec
Inc.:
download from
http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/suppdetail.html?prodkey=ASPI-4.70
CD
writing does
not work.
I get the
error "Send
CUE sheet
failed"
Please
restart the
CD wizard
and enable
the "Alternate
Writing Method
(TAO)" option
on the page
where you
select your
writer device.
If
both methods
do not help,
please download
Eureka’s Photo Magic's
CD Writer
Test (200kb),
run the software
and send us
the logfile
(instructions
are inside
the program!).
Viewing
Photos on
Video CDs
using DVD
Players
I
cannot view
the photos
from a VCD
created with
Eureka’s Photo Magic
on my DVD
player
There
are several
reasons that
can cause
this:
- Your
DVD/VCD
player is
not VCD
2.0 compatible
or does
not support
PBC (Play
Back Control)
- PBC
is not enabled
on your
player (see
player's
manual to
enable it)
- your
player does
not support
recordable
discs at
all because
of wavelength
problems
(a common
problem
on older
players)
- your
player does
not support
CD/RW discs,
please try
a CD/R disc
When
viewing VCDs
on my DVD/VCD
player I
don't see
transitions
and I don't
hear the music.
But when I
test the slideshow
on the PC
everything
is fine.
Please
do not mix
up the slideshow
(for Windows)
and the VCD
format:
- Using
the Slideshow
Wizard you
can create
slideshows
with transitions
and background
music. These
slideshows
are only
viewable
on Windows
systems.
- When
creating
VCD slideshows
Eureka’s Photo Magic
only supports
single images
without
transitions
and music
- Using
the CD-ROM
Wizard you
can create
CDs with
both types
of data
on one disc,
but a VCD
player will
only play
the version
without music
and transitions
- Note:
Although
the VCD
format would
support
music and
transitions
this would
mean that
the images
would only
be in 1/4
of the resolution.
Eureka’s Photo Magic
is programmed
for the
best image
quality
and therefore
cannot make
use of transitions
etc.
Sending
Emails
Sending
of emails
does not work
To
send emails
with Eureka’s Photo Magic
you need a
MAPI compatible
email software
that is installed
and configured
on your computer.
For example
Outlook 2000,
Outlook Express,
Netscape Mail
and others
are MAPI compatible.
Please configure
and test your
email client
first, then
- in the mail
program options,
set them to
be the MAPI
handler on
your computer.
I
am still having
problems with
sending email
via MAPI
Eureka’s Photo Magic
uses the standard
MAPI interface
on your computer
to send emails.
Well known
MAPI compliant
e-mail software
include Eudora,
Outlook, Outlook
Express, Novell
GroupWise
and Netscape
Messenger.
Pegasus Mail
is not MAPI
compatible.
Unfortunately
the MAPI settings
can be quite
mixed up when
several email
clients are
installed/upgraded/deinstalled
on your computer.
Apart from
trying to
reinstall
your email
program there
is no simple
way to cure
these problems.
We have set
up a list
of resources
to help you.
Correcting
MAPI Problems
Here
are some links
that deal
with MAPI
setup problems
that might
help with
your special
configuration:
- Microsoft:
- Lotus
Notes:
- Novell
Groupwise:
- Eudora:
Are
There Multiple
E-Mail Clients
Installed?
Sometimes,
problems can
arise if multiple
e-mail clients
are installed
on the same
system. To
check which
e-mail clients
have been
installed:
- From
the Control
Panel,
click Internet
Options.
- Click
the Programs
tab.
- Typically,
the program
shown under
E-mail is
the default
e-mail client.
If Outlook
or Outlook
Express
has been
installed,
this information
may not
be accurate.
- Note:
Eudora (and
possibly
other e-mail
programs)
has a configurable
option that
lets you
specify
whether
it is the
default
MAPI client
[i.e., 1)
always;
2) when
it is running;
or 3) never].
This setting
takes precedence
but is not
necessarily
reflected
correctly
in this
window.
- Click
the drop-down
arrow in
the E-mail
field. A
list of
all e-mail
software
that has
been installed
will be
shown.
In
situations
where multiple
e-mail clients
have been
installed,
problems can
arise where
the last e-mail
client installed
overwrites
other MAPI
settings and
DLL files
of the MAPI
client with
which you
are trying
to integrate.
This is particularly
a problem
with Outlook
Express and
Outlook when
they are installed
on top of
a different
e-mail client
with which
you are trying
to integrate.When
problems occur
with multiple
e-mail clients,
we recommend
the following
procedures:
- Uninstall
the unused
e-mail program(s).
- Uninstall
the e-mail
program
you are
trying to
use.
- Reinstall
the e-mail
program
you are
trying to
use.
